2015 / dps_Drawing and Painting Strategies
With MAF students and guests | Zurich University of the Arts, MA Fine Arts. Currently,
the notions of drawing and painting are undergoing a re-categorisation. For
centuries drawing and painting have been technically highly diverse. This
diversity has broadened immensely during the last hundred
year—technically as well as medial. “DPS_DRAWING & PAINTING
STRATEGIES” invites artists to talk about their strategies from a
practical point of view. The program is conducted together with
galleries and institutions.

Kunstkontexte
soll.

Art practice is
shaped by a multitude of art notions. These notions are based on
traditions, interests, and aims that – in practical terms – are
undergoing acceleratedtransformation. This symposium seeks to draw
attention to these developments. It focuses on specific effects of
globalization, namely, the hybridizations of traditions, and shifting
points of reference.

the past decades, contemporary art’s cross-media practice led to an
enormous extension of the notions of “drawing” and “painting”. Various

practical point of view, it is most interesting to know how and why
artists apply certain strategies of drawing and painting.
